It doesn't matter how many are in the crowd. There's always one head Clark spots faster than any others. Even when he's looking for someone else in particular, like the villain he's currently set after, he still spies that shining, smooth head before he takes note of anything else. He can't help it; it's been that way since they were boys.
But when he does spy that head, and he sees the beautiful, blue eyes set therein gazing up at him, Clark always feels his strength renewed. He gazes back, even if only for just a second, trying to convey in his gaze that he is going to save the day. He is going to save the day, save the Earth, save the whole universe if it takes, all so he can save him. He'd gladly go through Hell itself just for one kiss from that man.
Lex smiles every time when he sees Clark watching him, and Clark knows the message is understood. He's gonna save the day. He's gonna save him, and keep himself alive while doing so, all so he can come home to him again and love him right and for the rest of their lives.
The End
