She trembled inside, underneath her cloak where none could see the bruises last night had left on her nubile body. She still felt too young for all this. It was hard to believe she was graduating, harder still to believe she was a member of the family who had started this entire school, and hardest yet to follow in their footsteps -- even if she had last night and lived to tell the tale, not that any other than her siblings would believe her.

"You all right?" her brother asked, his deep voice whispering in concern next to her ear.

She gulped and tried to swallow down her fear. "Yeah. I -- I just can't believe this is happening."

"It is happening," he said, "and it's happening in part because of us, and because of our ancestors."

"I know. No one's ever going to let us forget that."

"They don't need to. We shouldn't want to."

"Easy for you to say, Mister Popular."

She could hear his smile in his voice. "You're scared, aren't you? You always tease me when I'm afraid."

"I should be -- "

"No, you shouldn't. This is your right. We've more than earned this, more than any of the others, that's for sure."

"They wouldn't believe us."

"It doesn't matter. You think our great great aunts were believed?"

"No." She shook her head. They both knew the stories, the legacy, and how much the regular world never believed in the Charmed Ones. Many of the magical community also doubted them, until they had proven themselves once and for all and finally went down as legends. Only two had managed to have children before sacrificing themselves for the Better Good, and they were direct descendents from the eldest.

"WWPS."

She smiled despite her nerves. "What Would Piper Say?" Many of their classmates went to Prue or Phoebe, some even to Paige, but they always turned to Piper.

"That we deserve it," he urged.

"You're right," she admitted with a nod. "Hold my hand?"

"To the door."

Their fingers interlaced, they stepped together to the curtain. He'd be right behind her, she knew. "Thanks, Patrick," she whispered, squeezing his hand. "They'd be proud."

"I know they would," he said and watched his sister walk out to the praise she deserved. They had every right to be proud of them both; after all, they'd saved the world again last night.

She ducked out quickly, and he followed behind her. She had Great Great Aunt Piper's shyness terribly, but he had the bold Halliwell gene that every one had thought Piper was missing until the end. He flashed the crowd a grin, barely able to refrain from telling them they were welcome. They were all graduating today because there was still a world, and they were the reasons the world was still going. One day, they'd know, he thought. One day, they'd all know, and his sister, just as Great Great Aunt Piper had done, would know the boldness and praise every Halliwell deserved. Somewhere, he knew, four ancestors were beaming.

The End
