"Really I can handle it," Phoebe insisted, motioning with her hands as she followed Piper around the counter. "Leo, tell her I can handle it!" she exclaimed, spotting her sister's husband. Piper barely glanced at the White Lighter as she continued about her mission.
"Phebs, I have no doubt you can handle it, but it's a lot on any one person and if one thing goes wrong with that concert tonight -- "
"It won't," Phoebe stressed. "Leo, tell her it won't. Tell her she needs to rest. Between this place and the other things we do, she's going to wear herself out!"
Leo's eyes darted between the sisters. The look his wife gave him warned him not to interfere, but like Phoebe, he had also noticed that Piper was wearing herself out. It was far pass time for a break, and a good break for a change which was something none of them got anywhere near they deserved it. Even the PTB had finally agreed that the Charmed Ones deserved a little vacation time.
A familiar song came on the loudspeaker, and Leo grabbed his wife's hand. "May I have this dance?" he asked, pulling her to him.
"Leo, I've got five tables waiting for their orders!"
"And we've got it!" Paige called as she bustled pass carrying two trays and with a cute waiter in tow.
"Stop worrying so much!" Phoebe told her. "You're turning into Prue!"
All three sisters stopped. Phoebe blanched. "Hum, I mean -- " Phoebe's face fell. "Well, you are," she insisted, biting her bottom lip. "You're working too much, Piper. We never see you at home any more unless it's an emergency."
Leo had kept his hand on Piper's. Now his fingers laced through hers and he pulled her to him. "I hardly see you," he whispered against her hair, kissing her cheek. "Dance with me."
"Leo!"
"Dance with him," Phoebe and Paige spoke in unison. They grinned at each other as Piper exclaimed her frustration. Phoebe waggled her eyebrows at Paige and the waiter behind her, and Paige nodded. She definitely hoped to be dancing with him before the night was over.
Leo pulled his struggling wife closer and rocked his body against hers. He wrapped his other arm around her waist, his hand pressing gently into the small of her back and urging her closer still. "Leo, I have work to do!"
"Work that can wait," he said, kissing her neck. "Work that you sisters can handle." He kissed a spot lower. Before she could break away, he orbed them out of P3. Birds sang, and the sun beat down on them in their new location. "Work," he concluded, grinning quite unagelically, "you can't do from here."
"LEO!" Piper wailed, throwing her hands up.
He ducked, but thankfully, nothing exploded. He took her hands again and held them between them. "Piper," he spoke slowly, "you have been working too hard."
"I don't know what you expect with The Powers That Be always running us ragged. We have to have money to live too, you know."
"I know," he said, leaning forward and kissing her forehead. "Even The Powers That Be have agreed that you need to take a break."
"Yeah, right." She scowled.
"Right," he said, interlacing their fingers again and pulling her along with him in a slow sway. Sand shifted underneath their feet.
"Where have you taken us any way?" she demanded, breaking free from him again and turning around to look. "And what if my sisters -- " Words failed her as she took in the natural, glorious beauty of a tropical island. She stood with her mouth open. "Lllleeeooooo," she finally said and looked back at him, wide-eyed, over her shoulder.
He smiled and shrugged, looking as sweet and sheepish as he had the day he had first appeared in front of her with a single, giant Hershey's Kiss in his hand. "You do need a break, Piper, and I promise you I will hear Phoebe or Paige if they call. They won't be in any danger we don't know about, and the minute they call, if they call, we're out of here."
Piper arched an eyebrow at him. A seagull swooped out of the bright, blue sky. Waves splashed gently against the white shore. She sighed, shook her head, and lifted her hands, palms up toward the brilliant sunshine. "I can't stay mad at you, you know."
"There's no reason for you to be mad," he countered, taking her hands in his yet again and pulling her close once more. He kissed her forehead. "Or worried." He kissed her nose. "Or upset." He kissed her mouth. "Or any number of other -- "
"Shut up," she murmured with a smile and hushed him by kissing his lips. She kept kissing him as, this time, she led the dance. They swayed together under the bright sunshine, nature providing a sweet melody for them as they danced close and in private. No Demons interrupted them for a change, or sisters or customers or other worries. Leo swayed with Piper until, still holding to his hands, she guided him down to the sand where they did what couples do best in perfect synchronization and the serene beauty of Mother Nature.
