It's now or never, Sydney thinks, vividly aware of the eyes upon not just herself but her partner as well. She knew this day would come eventually; she just hadn't thought it would be so soon. Ever since this officer transferred in, Syd's been having to make her territory damn clear. There's only one aspect she's evidently failed in making her stake unmistakable, and that is both the most important and hardest to admit her claim to.
But it's gotta be done, Sydney knows. It's gotta be done before it's too late and Sheila's gone after what has been hers all this time, even if she has always put off claiming it -- claiming him. He's so magnificent, she thinks, losing herself in watching Gage as he strides boldly across the office. He seems blissfully unaware of how she marvels at him, almost eating her own tongue, and of how Sheila's also watching his every move.
Gage stops before her, grinning brightly. "Hey, partner. You ready to spar today?" Walker's had them all doing extra training this week, but Syd isn't studying that right now. She's only studying one thing -- well, two, if she's honest with herself, Gage and the way Sheila's lustful, blue eyes will not stop trying to draw him to her.
Gage punches Syd's arm playfully, and she responds without a further thought, or hesitation. It's far pass time she laid claim on what's hers. Sheila needs to find her own partner, her own man, her own everything. Grabbing Gage's arm, Syd spins him around, slams him up against the wall, and kisses him where the whole department can see. She feels Gage's surprise, but then he deepens the kiss, confirming what she's always known. He was already hers; she just had to stake her claim.
