He would pull her to him, Jareth vowed, watching Sarah from another world. He would bring her back into his kingdom, his territory, no matter what it took, no matter what it cost either of them, and when he had her again, he would never let go. He'd give his immortality to hold that wretched, wonderful woman again.

She looked around her, feeling eyes upon her. She knew he was watching her, but she couldn't find him. She'd tried so hard to find her way back to the labyrinth, all to no avail. She glanced around at the cast of children she'd managed to convince the producer to include in her current play, all for one reason alone.

"Take them all," she whispered. "Take them all. Just don't forget me."

He would never forget her, he vowed, palming the crystal ball on his cane. He couldn't. He hadn't been any of the multitude of times he had tried. He would never be able to forget her, and he would never be able to trust her. The damn woman had power over him, but it was power he could not help but to give him.

She was such a liar, she thought as the lights flickered. She could practically hear the Goblins laughing at her stupidity. She liked to imagine they didn't just laugh at her, but she knew better than to think they'd ever have the courage to side away from their King. Besides, she no longer wanted to side against him. She never should have, but she'd had little choice to save Toby. She should have offered to stay in her baby brother's place, but hindsight was always 20-20.

"Come get me," she whispered and said the words. "Come get me, and never leave me again."

He was there in a shower of twinkles and power. Her throat tightened in awe of his majesty, and his hard, sexy body in tight clothing. "Take me home," she whispered, facing him as boldly as she ever had.

He smiled. Danger danced in his green eye and death in his blue. She swallowed hard but neither bowed nor cringed. Instead, she met him, as she always had, with demands of her own.

"Sarah." He almost purred her name. He'd always liked the way it tasted on his tongue and had always known he'd like the way she tasted as well. He reached a hand out toward her. She tensed, clearly expecting a scarf that would again turn into a snake and then a Goblin, but instead, he snatched her across the stage and to him. His fingers grazed the curve of her chin. She gasped with need and desire. His fingertips brushed her open, pursed, and trembling lips. "It's past time you called me, but what makes you think, human, it is that easy to reenter my Goblin Kingdom?"

"I asked. I'm offering you souls." She waved a hand behind them at where the children had been before he'd appeared; they were miraculously as vanished from the human plane as Toby had been sixteen years before.

"It takes more than that." His eyes searched hers with meaning.

She nodded. She had known it could not be so simple. She'd had him once complete at her beck and call and had lost him through her own stupidity. She could not trust him, but she had no choice if she wanted to keep him but to do and say as he wanted, and the only thing she still wanted in her entire life was to be with him, was to have him again at her beck and call.

"It can all still be yours, Sarah. I can still be yours." I am yours, he thought but refused to grant her fondest wish of speaking the words aloud. He would not allow her the knowledge of the power she still wielded over him, at least not without her giving something more in turn. He couldn't trust her, but that didn't matter. He'd never been able to trust her. He would never be able to trust humans at all, but that didn't mean that there was not one thing, one person, who the humans still possessed who he wanted, who he needed, for whom he still wanted to beg --

Her eyes had not left his. She tilted her head slightly to one side, but whereas the look she'd once given him had spoken volumes of defiance, she now gazed at him with acceptance and equal longing. "You do have power over me," she whispered, completing both their dreams. He pulled her close, and she sighed with euphoria as his lips finally, for the first in a million times to come, touched hers.

He kissed her, and whisked her, and Sarah, her King and slave, and all the children that would be theirs vanished forever from the London stage. Sarah sighed and melted completely into Jareth's sizzling embrace. He let himself go, kissing her and relishing every moment of having her in his arms and having her love, if not her trust. The trust would come. The obedience would come. He had her, and because he had her, he had everything he'd ever wanted. The very stars would be hers, just as long as she let him keep her as his Queen.

It didn't matter that they didn't trust each other. It didn't matter that they were so much alike and more fights between their domineering spirits would surely eventually ensue. All that mattered was that they loved each other. They always had, and from that love, they would finally build the kingdom, and the romance, of their fondest dreams.

The End
